Ideas to make Q4 a success for your ecommerce business

26/09/2023

There is no doubt that Q4 for most ecommerce businesses, it’s the busiest and most profitable time of the year, and ecommerce sales have continued to grow since 2020.

What are some of the ways you can have successful fourth quarter?

Fulfilment

How your orders are fulfilled is massively important! If you have a fulfilment partner, do you have a plan in place for your projected sales for the quarter? Having people who understand the variation in numbers during this period, and putting in the necessary measures, such as, ample packaging, storage for extra products, extra staff to avoid a delay in despatch – I could go on.

Do they have a fool-proof inventory management system that isn’t going to provide you with problems?

How does your web shop talk to their software? Is it the best most efficient way to ensure your orders are coming through in real time, or is there a lot of manual input involved that could succumb to human error?

From a Signifyed report

“37% of consumers surveyed from the UK said they would abandon a merchant after a bad experience”.

Engaging with your fulfilment house about things like stock levels, projected sales, new products etc, should ensure that customer satisfaction is at the forefront of everyone’s agenda.

Engaging in different ways with your consumers and potential customers

Social media is continuing to be a popular place for consumers to purchase items and this opens you up to world of potential new and different customers. You can also partner with great fulfilment services through platforms like TikTok shop. Speaking of, there are stats from TikTok that you can’t ignore.

From Social Sprouts - “More than 55% of TikTok users have bought something after seeing the brand on the app” and “50% of TikTok users have bought something after watching a TikTok live”.

Are you selling on amazon? You can’t disregard the powers of this ecommerce giant, and having your products FBA gives you benefits over other people selling on amazon fulfilling their own orders, including your listings being higher when people are searching. There are different companies that can help you succeed with amazon selling, as to some it may be a minefield to ensure you’re getting the best of the platform’s abilities.

Offering choice of payments options

It’s not only about making sure your brand is out there for the right people, but also making sure you are offering different ways to pay.

The added expense for consumers in Q4, especially in a cost-of-living crisis, offering ways to spread out payments through their ecommerce purchases, with payment methods such as Klarna, Clear Pay and PayPal’s buy now, pay later.

From finder.com “As of 2023, more than one-third (36%) of Brits have used BNPL services, which is more than 19 million people.”

With Klarna being the number one platform, with 150 million active consumers, and 2,000,000 transactions per day, it seems the BNPL is a popular scheme amongst many consumers worldwide. There maybe some considerations to think about, for example, if the user demographics match your audience, is it worth having it if not?

As we head into the last few months of the year, what are some of the things you’re putting in place to have a successful Q4?
